Beau Chene High School is excited to make a major announcement, the naming of our Football/Track/Soccer facility as: Gator Field @ Walter Davis Stadium The naming of the stadium will be made official on Saturday September 14, 2024 at their first home football game vs. Port Barre @ 6:00 PM. The ceremony will take place at halftime.

However, please be aware that there may be transportation delays due to the aftermath of Hurricane Francine. Families can register or learn more on the online portal or by visiting tutor.la.gov. Eligible families will select a high-quality tutoring provider through the parent portal. All tutors have been approved by the LDOE. Tutoring options are available virtually or in-person.

The Opelousas Senior High School football game will take place tonight, September 6, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The location of the game has been moved to Teurlings Catholic High School due to the conditions of the field. Teurlings Catholic High School is located at 139 Teurlings Drive in Lafayette, La. Please come out and support our tigers.

The behavior interventionists at the Pupil Appraisal Center were recently trained by the National Council for Wellbeing on Youth Mental Health. This training was sponsored by the Louisiana Department of Health. They were provided with Emotional Wellness Kits to begin the new school year.

Darren Zachary, representing Shining Star Masonic Lodge #262, Sunset, LA presented St. Landry Parish CAFE (Child and Family Engagement), headed by Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator, Tawasha Thomas, with a donation to support children and families in the parish. The primary mission of the CAFE is to provide school uniforms to students and families in need. This is the CAFE's biggest donation to date!

Congratulations to Tracy Henry, Beau Chene High teacher, for winning the 2023-2024 Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award. Mrs. Henry secured first place in the district competition which included participants from 7 localities: Arnaudville, Opelousas, Ville Platte, Crowley, Port Barre, Eunice, Church Point. After her district win, she secured 2nd place in the State Competition. This award, sponsored by the VFW and its Auxiliary, identifies and recognizes America’s best educators who instill a sense of national pride in students. Presenting Mrs. Henry was Scott Perry, VFW Post 2483 and District Commander, Scott Perry.
